Noblessner. Metamorphoses of a Submarine Shipyard 1912-1940

The catalyst for Noblessner. Metamorphoses of a Submarine Shipyard 1912–1940 is a unique photo album that reached the Estonian Maritime Museum a few years ago, capturing the Noblessner Shipyard in 1913–1916. The photos depict various views of the construction of the shipyard buildings, and the construction, blessings and ceremonious launchings of submarines. This book focuses on the beginnings of the shipyard, the Estonian industrial architecture in the first half of the 20 th century, as well as some of the better-known businesses operating in the shipyard at the time. In addition to that, the book gives an overview of the fate of the submarines built at Noblessner, and of the motorsailers Läänemaa, Virumaa and Harjumaa, ordered by the Tallinn Shipping Society. The book concludes with contemporary views of Noblessner.
